Expectations surrounding the Buffalo Bills defense took a major dive after losing linebacker Matt Milano indefinitely for the 2024 season.

A torn biceps injury suffered in practice was just the latest unlucky bounce for both the player and the team that has gone through a major roster overhaul over the last few seasons.

Despite torn biceps usually ending people's seasons, the Bills aren't necessarily closing the book on Milano producing for them this year.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, general manager Brandon Beane refused to rule out Milano, but also wouldn't give a positive spin on things, either.

"It’s so early,” Beane said. “Obviously tore the bicep and had that repaired. It’s early stages. Those can range from various times. We have a little bit [of information], but you’re not really doing a lot, like our people aren’t putting their hands, doing a lot. You’re letting the wound heal and all that. Think it’s, right now, we’re just going to let Matt do his thing."

Milano is a first-team All-Pro linebacker across the league but his absence will force the Bills to trust young stars behind him - at least for the beginning parts of the 2024 season.

The goal, therefore is for the Bills to try and stay afloat for Milano to come back right on time.
