College football is a demanding sport on its head coaches. Every year there are changes to the leadership around the nation after expectations aren't met. It's the nature of the business at every level.

So who is on the hot seat entering Week 1 of the 2024 season? Third-year Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier is at the top of the list after two-straight losing seasons at the helm in Gainesville.

Napier is due $26 million if fired by Dec. 1.

ESPN and "College GameDay" host, Pat McAfee, predicted Napier to be "paid to golf" next year while previewing Saturday's matchup between UF and in-state rival Miami.

"At the end of the season, they have Georgia, Texas, LSU, Ole Miss and FSU to finish the season," McAfee said. "That's the last five games. So if they lose this one against Miami, they have those five to close the entire thing out. Coach Napier's gonna be getting paid to golf next year, and I think we all understand that. He knows it."

McAfee's prediction is certainly plausible. As he mentioned, UF's schedule is one of the toughest in the entire country with eight matchups against AP Top 25 teams. But, according to Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin, Napier has some leeway.

"I really believe Billy Napier is going to be the coach at Florida for a long, long time," he said on "The Paul Finebaum Show" on Friday.

Napier doesn't have time to be thinking about his future at the moment. His Gators have a tough test against the No. 19 Hurricanes to deal with. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET in Gainesville (ABC).
