Urban Meyer clearly has close ties with the Ohio State Buckeyes, and this season, I don’t think you can blame bias for his opinion on them.

They return several key defensive starters that could have been drafted to the NFL. They bring in three top-tier transfers to bolster their already impressive roster. They also secured some of the country’s top recruits with one of the best recruiting classes for the 2024 cycle.

It’s no surprise that Meyer not only thinks the Buckeyes will get a first-round bye in the 12-team College Football Playoff by winning the Big Ten, but they’ll also come out as national champions.

"The best roster in college football," Meyer said on Big Noon Kickoff. "The best rosters almost always win. They'll win."

Meyer wasn’t alone in his belief that the Buckeyes will go all the way, with Brady Quinn also choosing Ohio State as his national champion.

Matt Leinart went with another Big Ten team in the Oregon Ducks, while Mark Ingram went with the Georgia Bulldogs.

The Buckeyes are the favorites behind the Bulldogs to win it all, according to Vegas, with +325 odds. Georgia has +300 odds to win the 2025 College Football Playoff Championship game.
