As the Buffalo Bills prepare for the start of the 2024 season, they know they will have a young and inexperienced linebacker room leading the way for most of the year.

That's what happened when All-Pro linebacker Matt Milano was lost for most of the season due to a torn biceps injury suffered in practice during training camp.

As the Bills hope to have their trust in the depth of the team fulfilled, Milano's current injury has left some in the organization hoping that he could potentially return at some point this year.

That includes general manager Brandon Beane.

“We’re going to focus on the guys we’ve got here, and if the medical team tells us as we get into the season, ‘Hey, this is trending well,’ and we think there’s a chance, then we’ll start planning accordingly," Beane said. "Ultimately what we did was, [we] didn’t close the door on the season, but we’re not going to sit here and say we’re expecting him by this point. I think it’s just way too early.”

Buffalo's defense has been among the elite over the years but this will be a major test without Milano and a young secondary behind the linebacking core.
