Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has come in and wowed his coaches and fans. What he has been able to do in the hearts and minds of fans who have driven the hype train to a fever pitch is undeniable.

On Thursday, Daniels was asked about the growing expectations around this season and him in particular.

“Just going through it,” said Daniels. “Just going out there and being myself, knowing who God made me. Stay grounded; don’t get too high, don’t get too low.”

At the end of the day that’s all you can really as of the former LSU Tiger. Come in, be himself, and play the way he knows he can play. Daniels is a total team guy. Personal success means nothing if there is no team success.

“At the end of the day, it takes a team to help people out,” Daniels said. “I can’t go out there and think I am the savior.”

Daniels has been praised by coaches and teammates for his humble nature. He just wants to be the most efficient player he can be for the betterment of the team above himself.

You don’t hear that from superstars very much, if at all. The Commanders said they wanted to change the culture in and around the team. It certainly seems like they picked the right person to kickstart that movement.
