'Pretty High Bar!' How Can Nick Keep His Job?

    By Wil Riggs,

Last year, the Philadelphia Eagles experienced a late-season collapse for the ages. After starting 10-1, they lost five of their final six to finish the season ... and lost the division to the Dallas Cowboys on the final weekend of the year.

They went on the road in the playoffs and laid an egg in a 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that ended their season just one year after losing a 38-35 battle to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

It has been well-established that coach Nick Sirianni’s job is on the line this year.  In fact ... The Ringer released an article detailing what Sirianni’s Eagles must do this year to keep his job.

"ESPN reported earlier this offseason that the Eagles were one of the teams that 'discussed' hiring Bill Belichick," The Ringer said . "They decided against exploring the possibility further because such a move would have meant handing the entire organization over to the head coach.

“With Sirianni, they are essentially doing the opposite. Meanwhile, he goes into the season knowing he has a pretty high bar to clear to keep his job in 2025.”

While all the blame doesn’t belong at the feet of Sirianni for what happened last year, much of the weight to produce this year now sits firmly on his shoulders.

The Eagles kick off their season in the first game ever played in South America when they take on the Green Bay Packers in Sau Paulo, Brazil.

The game is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 6 with kick off set for 8:20 p.m. EDT.
