When Jordan Mailata entered the NFL world in 2018, he was forced to move across the globe from his home country of Australia to learn a brand new game.

With proper coaching and some natural gifts, Mailata has become one of the top tackles in the league today for the Philadelphia Eagles. As he prepares for his fifth NFL season as a starter, Mailata has a new title to add to his resume:

    Captain.

Mailata was named one of seven captains on the Eagles for the 2024 season - something that the tackle is more than pleased to be.

“I mean, first off, I'm extremely honored to be a part of that creed, and I didn't expect it,” Mailata said to the Eagles’ website. “Whether I've had the 'C' on my chest or not, I've always considered myself a leader, just trying to prove and follow the example that was set for me by the veterans and captains I've had in the past. So to now have the 'C' doesn't really change my mentality, you know, just going to still go about my day and about my hustle.

"That's something that I'm going to cherish and not take for granted, because it's an incredible opportunity to lead this team and to be a captain is crazy."

Mailata is one of the best stories and steals over the last decade as a former rugby player turned Pro Bowl-caliber player.

With Jason Kelce retired, the Eagles needed more leadership along the offensive line. Now, it appears Mailata is more than comfortable to do so.
