Georgia Fans Rip Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo For Slow Start In Week 1

The Georgia Bulldogs had one of the top offenses in the SEC last season under offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. Georgia was second in total offensive yards (496.5), passing yards (305.3), and third in rushing yards per game (191.2) in the SEC for 2023.

While Georgia had a good year on offense in 2023, things did not start well in Week 1 against the Clemson Tigers. The first quarter ended in a 0-0 tie, and Georgia fans became restless shortly after.

Bobo has been with the program before. He started as an administrative assistant in 1998 and became a graduate assistant in 1999. Bobo then left to coach quarterbacks at Jacksonville State in 2000.

However, he returned to Georgia for the same role from 2001-06. Bobo became the Bulldogs' offensive coordinator and quarterback coach from 2007-14. He joined Kirby Smart's staff and returned for a third stint with the program in 2022 as an offensive analyst. Smart named Bobo the offensive coordinator last season.

Carson Beck started his first year as quarterback for the Bulldogs in 2023. He had 3,941 passing yards and 24 touchdowns last season.

One fan joked that Bobo was the king of screen passes. Georgia fans had very few positive reactions to Bobo's offense in the first half, and calls to fire the offensive coordinator were also made.

For reference, the last time that Georgia and Clemson played in 2021, the game ended 10-3. However, this is not the start Georgia fans had hoped for their team.
