Clayton Kershaw left his start against the Arizona Diamondbacks after just one inning due to a bone spur in his left big toe. The injury raises concerns that he may need to go back on the injured list.

Kershaw threw only 27 pitches in the game, allowing three runs before exiting. He attempted to continue pitching in the second inning but was pulled after giving up a home run to Corbin Carroll.

"It's obviously not good," Roberts said post-game, via Jack Harris . "There's swelling. There's pain. He's doing everything he can to kind of get through. Some starts it feels fine and it's not impeding.

"Today certainly it was. He just, he had nothing. No legs today obviously. Then you start worrying about how it could affect his arm. There was just no other alternative but to take him out."

"I just couldn’t really push off,” Kershaw said . “It’s frustrating when everything else seems to be feeling great. No matter what I did, I couldn’t find a comfortable way to push off on my toe. Super frustrating.”

The 36-year-old pitcher has faced multiple injuries in recent seasons, including shoulder surgery that delayed his first start of the year until late July.

This season, he has struggled to maintain a consistent workload, posting a 4.50 ERA across seven starts.

The Dodgers are already dealing with a depleted rotation, with six starting pitchers currently on the injured list, including notable names like Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow.

Despite these challenges, the Dodgers hold a five-game lead in the National League West as they prepare for the next game in their series against the Diamondbacks.

Kershaw has always been a horrible starter! He gives up waaay too many runs in first two innings. He’s not learned how to be a pitcher vs a thrower like he was in his prime. Don’t think he’s worth keeping around, he’s a drain on the team!
