It wasn't a pretty opening game for Dabo Swinney and the No. 14 Clemson Tigers as they fell to the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs 34-3. This marks the second straight season the Tigers have dropped their opening game, losing to Duke in 2023, 28-7.

Clemson's offense was only able to secure 188 total yards against one of the best defenses in the country. Quarterback Cade Klubnik accounted for 142 of those yards, with the remaining 46 coming from the ground game.

In 2023, the Tigers averaged 402.7 yards per game, more than double their Week 1 output against the Bulldogs.

Georgia picked up 447 total yards of their own in the game, which was well beyond Clemson's defensive average of 278.7 yards per game in 2023.

As any head coach would, Swinney is facing major backlash on social media for the disappointing loss, with fans calling him a coward and demanding he be fired, amongst other things.

"Dabo Swinney without Deshaun Watson or Trevor Lawrence"

"Dj uiagalelei at his apartment watching Cade Klubnik also look like trash in year 2 in the dabo swinney offense"

"Dabo Swinney running back in time to the transfer portal."

    "Washed"

    "Overrated"

    "Fired"

Despite the roasting, Swinney is still one of the top college football coaches ever. He brought Clemson two national championships in 2016 and 2018 and eight ACC titles, with the most recent in 2022.

Clemson will look for their first win of the season on Saturday, August 7, against the Appalachian State Mountaineers. Georgia will try to improve to 2-0 with a much less threatening Week 2 opponent in Tennessee Tech.
