Calls Escalate for College Football Coach's Firing After Ugly Week 1 Loss

The Clemson Tigers got blown out by the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 1 after losing 3-34. Dabo Swinney's team couldn't get anything going offensively and the defense had no answers for Kirby Smart's offense.

This loss stemmed quite the reaction from fans as they are incredibly unhappy with Clemson's performance. So much so, that college football fans are calling for Swinney's job as head coach.

Although Swinney has led the Tigers to two National Championship wins (2016 and 2018), Clemson has ultimately struggled. Swinney's team has recorded three or more losses in the last three seasons.

The veteran head coach has infamously not utilized the transfer portal like other top programs. It's potentially one of the reasons why Clemson hasn't been as competitive as they could be in recent years. Fans appear to be fed up with Swinney's tenure coaching the Tigers.

"S***** coach needs to go. MF down 3-27 running his 15th unsuccessful screen of the game."

Is it the coaching or the fact Swinney doesn't utilize all of his resources to build the roster?

"His inability to adapt has been the downfall of Clemson."

At least one famous fan is going to have a field day after this Clemson loss.

"Tyler from Spartanburg's revenge tour begins next week."

Is it inevitable at this point ?

"So when does Dabo Swinney get fired?"

Rival fans seem pretty happy with Swinney's coaching abilities right now. They don't want Swinney fired at all.

"No, I like that loser right where he's at, go Gamecocks."

Swinney served as an assistant coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide throughout the 1990s. By the early 2000s, Swinney was hired by Clemson where he ultimately climbed the ranks. The Tigers named him the interim head coach and offensive coordinator in 2008. The following season, Swinney was named the Tigers' head coach.

He's found a ton of success coaching Clemson. Heading into the 2024 season, Swinney led the Tigers to a 170-43 record over 14 years. This program has been in the mix for several years with Swinney leading the way.

However, Swinney has not utilized the transfer portal like other programs such as Georgia, Oregon, and Ohio State. He's also criticized the NIL since it started in 2021.

We'll see how Swinney and Clemson play this season. These are truly early reactions to this season. Especially considering Smart and the Bulldogs are a tough opponent for any team in the nation. There's a chance the Tigers bounce back and potentially make a playoff appearance.
