After a slow start, No. 4 Texas scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 31-0 lead over Colorado State in Week 1.

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers concluded the first half with 248 passing yards, three touchdowns and one interception. The Longhorns' leading receiver was newcomer Isaiah Bond, whom Texas acquired via the transfer portal this offseason.

Many expected Bond to be Texas' No. 1 wide receiver this year, but the Ewers-Bond connection may be more dangerous than some think. Bond hauled in five receptions for 61 yards and one touchdown in the first half.

His first touchdown as a Longhorn was a 7-yard pass from Ewers with two minutes left in the second quarter.

Bond looks to be filling the Xavier Worthy role in head coach Steve Sarkisian's offense. While there will be a heavy dose of wide receivers Matthew Golden, Silas Bolden, Johntay Cook, Ryan Wingo, and DeAndre Moore in the rotation, Bond has seemingly become Ewers' No. 1 target.

All in all, it was a solid showing for Texas in all three phases against the Rams in the first half. Now, the Longhorns can afford to get reserve players significant playing time in the second half.
