The Washington Commanders are already preparing to open their season on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Washington’s rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has been honed in on his film study looking for weaknesses.

He recently mentioned one of the Bucs biggest strengths is their defense.

"I mean a very sound defense," Daniels said. "Obviously what Bucs Head Coach Todd Bowles does over there and his track record as a defensive coordinator. Everything speaks for itself. They got a very savvy veteran in linebacker LaVonte David that's controlling the defense.

“He knows what's gonna go on, so we gotta go out there and we just gotta execute. They got a very good front and very overall good defense."

The Commanders had a poor offensive output a season ago. Bad play calling from coordinator Eric Bieniemy, who called more pass plays than any team in the league, and subsequently the fewest runs.

Washington finished the season ranked No. 24 in total yards and No. 25 in points per game. With Daniels under center and weapons like Terry McLaurin, Zach Ertz, Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson Jr., this Commanders offense has the opportunity to be much better than last year’s unit.

The two teams are schedule to meet on Sunday, Sept. 8 with kickoff set for 4:35 p.m. EDT.
