SEC Quarterback’s Hilarious Week 1 Blunder Goes Viral

    By J.C. Shelton,

    2024-08-31

There's a lot to learn and experience for South Carolina redshirt freshman LaNorris Sellers, who is making his first start as the Gamecocks' quarterback against Old Dominion.

The 6-foot-3, 242-pound dual-threat passer signed with South Carolina as a four-star prospect in the class of 2023. Sellers won the starting job over the offseason and earned the opportunity to usher in a new era following the departure of Spencer Rattler to the NFL.

Sellers has had a tough day against Old Dominion thus far. As South Carolina held tightly to a 10-7 lead in the second quarter, Sellers got a little to excited when running back Juju McDowell bounced a run outside with green grass in front of him.

Sellers ultimately tackled his own teammate and prevented some extra yards.

Anyone can appreciate the enthusiasm from Sellers here. But unfortunately his efforts to make a block ended with McDowell going down much earlier than he would have.

This is certainly something Sellers will learn from as he gets settled at the collegiate level. He has been efficient on the ground with 11 rushes for 45 yards. Passing, though, has been a struggle with just one completion on five attempts for minus three yards.

Sellers and company will have to get things tightened up to put away Old Dominion and avoid a major upset.

The game is live right now from Columbia, South Carolina, on SEC Network.
