One of the areas of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that could use a bit of work is their offensive line, and the team added a a new member to that position group recently.

The team recently announced that they were claiming offensive guard Royce Newman off of waivers after he was cut by the Green Bay Packers. Bucs GM Jason Licht appeared on The Sick Podcast-Pirate Parlay yesterday and gave his thoughts on Newman.

"I like his playing style," Licht said. "You know, he’s a high-motor guy just that fits in with the same kinds of guys that we have. He’s a scrappy player... Wouldn’t be surprised if he’d go out there and hang in there at left tackle, as well. He’s smart. He’s just got the traits that we look for in that O-line. So he’s going to fit in great."

Newman mostly played right guard for the Packers his first three seasons in the league, but he has also played left tackles, and that could provide a lot of value to a team who needs offensive line help.

He has started in 24 games so far in his career, and he has lineup up at multiple spots. Not only that, he has not missed a single game so far in his NFL career, as he has come in and played even when he wasn't starting.

Newman will be looking to help the Bucs offensive line in protecting Baker Mayfield as he tries to lead the team back to the playoffs.
