The No. 3 Oregon Ducks came into Saturday's Week 1 matchup against the Idaho Vandals favored by 49.5 points, according to Action Network , and left having survived a legitimate upset attempt.

The Vandals gave them a run for their money, as they cut Oregon's lead to three points in the final quarter before Oregon pulled away to win 24-14. Quite the statement for an Idaho squad that was such large underdogs, that Action Network reported that not every sportsbook provided a line for an Idaho Win.

Considering Oregon is seen as one of college football's legitimate title contenders, their fans were not expecting to be pushed to the brink. As one could expect from a fan base with championship hopes, they were not satisfied with the win and took to social media to air their frustrations.

"Wasn’t ready for a stressful game this early in the season," wrote one fan.

"Not the #3 in the country! SMH... Shouldn't be any rankings till week 3 or 4," commented another.

"That was concerning," one fan commented .

"We'll take the W but back to lab because we’re not close to being ready to compete at the highest level," chimed in another.

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning wasn't thrilled with his offense or defense after the game. The head coach said the win didn't come in the manner that they expected. He also revealed he felt that both the offense and defense underperformed.

“Different than we thought it would look like,” Lanning said to the media after the game. “Great teams are able to learn from tight matches. This was a tight match, and we didn't create some of the explosive plays I was hoping we could create offensively. Gave up a couple of critical plays on defense. So certainly some things to attack."

While it wasn't the prettiest of wins, it's still a win and a teaching moment. The Ducks will welcome Mountain West power Boise State Broncos to town next Saturday, Sept. 8, and still will have plenty of time to prove they are a title contender.

ESPN's FPI viewed the Ducks as having the second-best chances of winning a title coming into Week 1.
