'He's Delusional!' Ex Super Bowl Champion Slams Russell Wilson

For the second time this week, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson has been taken behind the proverbial woodshed by former players and teammates. The verbal carnage began with former Broncos tackle Mike McGlinchey taking a shot at Wilson for pretending to be something he’s not.

Now, former player and two-time Super Bowl champion with the Broncos, Mark Schlereth, is lambasting Wilson on his podcast, The Stinkin’ Truth .

"Do I think they may be able to compete for a playoff spot?” Schlereth said . “Yeah, but the issue is, and this is what got Russ out of Seattle and Denver, Russ isn’t willing to admit he’s not good at stuff. He’s delusional. If you’re not willing to admit it, then you can’t fix it."

Schlereth also doesn’t believe Wilson will make it the whole season as the starter either. When his cohost asked how long he thought the former Bronco and Seahawks signal-caller would be the starter in Pittsburgh, he had a shocking answer.

"I’m gonna say five," Schlereth said. "I just think that the way the Pittsburgh Steelers are gonna have to be built, what they’re gonna have to build themselves on is the running game and using the quarterback element in the run game."

Not the biggest vote of confidence for Wilson, but for now he is the starter and will be under center for next week’s regular-season opener.

The Steelers open the season on the road at the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
