Victor Wembanyama 'Fully Immersed' in San Antonio Spurs' Offseason Plans

After winning Rookie of the Year last season and leading France to a silver medal in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, fans could give Victor Wembanyama a pass if he decided to take things slow during his first NBA offseason. Regardless of how he spent the summer, he would join the San Antonio Spurs as one of the better players in the league as a 20-year-old sophomore.

Apparently, that just isn't good enough for Wemby, who has turned into quite the gym rat.

NBA Insider Shams Charania explained on FanDuel's Run It Back that Wembanyama is back in Texas and is basically living in the gym.

"He took a short time off after the season ended," said Charania. "He's already begun two-a-day workouts, he's been at it for weeks now, he's been fully immersed in their offseason so far in their workouts in San Antonio."

According to a French basketball journalist , Wembanyama returned to San Antonio last weekend and has not left the training facility since. The Spurs opened the Victory Capital Performance Center last October and seem to be decked out with everything Wemby would need, so maybe that's not hyperbole.

As the Spurs prepare for the season, Wembanyama will play an even bigger role on both ends of the court than he did last year. With his discipline and added muscle, he should be one of the scarier offensive players next year, as he can use his increased strength to play bully ball under the hoop.

On defense, there is little doubt that he will remain the best rim-protector in the NBA. Once he enters his prime, it could be over for the league.
