Giants Own One of League's Youngest Rosters

It's the goal of many teams across the NFL to have a young roster, but still be talented enough to be competitive in their quest for a championship.

The New York Giants aren't one of those teams...at least not yet.

New York fields the fourth-youngest team in the NFL this season at an average age of 25.70 years old. They have the second-youngest roster full of starters on the team so it's a sign that the depth of the organization is older than the players actually seeing playing time.

There is a slight issue with the rebuilding Giants gaining this moniker, though.

The teams that are younger than them aren't dealing with a rebuild.

Whether it's the Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, or the Philadelphia Eagles, the Giants are not considered a contending team like those in front of them.

If New York wants to compete, it will need the development of that young team to go by a lot faster than it would in normal situations.

Having one of the league's youngest rosters is usually a sign that the Giants know they aren't ready to contend for a championship just yet. They won't get that luxury, though, so long as younger teams in front of them are fighting for a championship right away.
