Browns QB Situation Near Bottom of League

The Cleveland Browns tinkered with the quarterback room after last season's loss to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round. After rolling through five signal callers due to injuries during the playoff run, the Browns - some thought smartly - held on to four quarterbacks at final roster cuts on Monday.

That didn't last long, as Tyler Huntley was subsequently released. Good idea? We'll see.

But even with the current room consisting of Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson, the position still seems tenuous at best.

And Pro Football Network agrees as it ranked each NFL team's quarterback situation after the end of the preseason.

PFN labels the Browns as having the seventh-worst quarterback situation in the league.

Which is curious after the signing of Winston to back up Watson. Winston started for five seasons in Tampa Bay before spending time in New Orleans prior to signing in Cleveland.

And DTR showed signs of brilliance last year before suffering his season-ending injury.

The 2024 season will almost certainly depend on the health of the quarterback room, and maybe more significantly, Watson. After arriving in Cleveland in 2021 via a blockbuster trade from Houston, and then signing a massive contract extension to stay, Watson has appeared in just 12 games, going 8-4 as the starter.

This is the year the Browns need him to show the Pro Bowl talent that he had in Houston.
