With all the tumultuous news surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles Week 1 game against the Green Bay Packers, coach Nick Sirianni believes that he has a way to keep his team focused.

"We're going there to play and win a football game. That's our goal, that's our only goal as we go down there," Sirianni said on Sunday. "It's just getting everyone in the right mindset of what you what you need to be when you go down there.

“You can control the things you can control. We're going to Brazil to play, and that's what it is and we're excited about that."

That is sound advice. The NFL scheduled the first-ever game in South America between the Eagles and the Packers, but it has been met with much negativity from fans.

From the unofficial ban on green uniforms, and the wildfires polluting the air, to the latest attack on free speech by the Brazilian government, there is a lot more at stake here than a football game. Still, Sirianni noted that no matter what, his guys have to stick together.

"The team that handles the rain and looks at the rain that they're ready for it is going to be able to play better in the rain," Sirianni continued, "Well, that's the same thing when you go to a neutral site, whether it's London or wherever it is.

"These are things you can't control. What we can control is our effort. What we can control is our attitude and what we can control is our core values. And that's what we'll focus on this week."

The demands for the NFL to cancel this game amid all the safety concerns are getting louder by the day. Putting players at any type of risk for a football game should be off the table.
