The Chicago Sky failed to get out of their slump on Sunday. The struggles continued for the squad against the Minnesota Lynx, who secured a 79-74 home victory to hand the Sky their sixth consecutive loss.

Chicago suffered defeat despite a massive effort from rookie sensation Angel Reese, who turned in a monster 17-point, 19-rebound double-double to go along with three assists and two steals in a game-high 38 minutes of action.

In the process, Reese shattered a long-standing WNBA record for the most rebounds in a single season. After surpassing former league MVP Sylvia Fowles' mark of 404 boards in 2018, Reese has once again etched her name in the history books.

The 23-year-old took to Twitter to share her reaction to this latest feat.

"stay down 5! give yourself some grace!! all glory to the man above! 1 Peter 5:10-11 🙏🏽," she wrote.

Reese flexed her incredible achievement -- and rightfully so -- but she also sent a stern reminder to herself about keeping her feet on the ground. The former LSU star knows that the journey is just getting started for her and that there's going to be a lot more to come.

As of writing, it hasn't even been 20 minutes since Reese published the post but already, it's gotten over 73,000 views.

The downside of Angel's historic night is that, unfortunately, it came during another loss. The Sky are freefalling right now, and they are losing their grip on the eighth and final playoff spot in the WNBA. After Sunday's disappointing defeat, Chicago is now just half a game ahead of the ninth-seeded Atlanta Dream.

Atlanta will be in action later tonight against the 7-24 Los Angeles Sparks, and the Dream will surpass the Sky for the No. 8 spot with a win.
