LSU Player Penalized After Taking TD Celebration Way Too Far

    By Alex Weber,

After scoring the LSU Tigers' first touchdown vs. the USC Trojans Sunday evening, wide receiver Kyren Lacy took his celebration several steps too far.

Lacy hauled in a remarkable grab from quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, skying for the ball before getting his foot in bounds to score the first Tiger points of the game. Emotions were high for Lacy, and after the score, he went over to a USC defender and pointed his fingers at him as if he was holding a gun to his head.

Yellow laundry flew in the air immediately after that graphic motion from Lacy, which is pretty obviously over the line for any kind of celebration after a play.

Take a look, first at the touchdown and then at Lacy's poor decision for a celebration.

Now, here's the close-up of the act in question:

Rece Davis and Kirk Herbstreit admit that's a call every ref has to make. College football games really can't feature that sort of explicit violence insinuated on live television after a touchdown.

That penalty hurt LSU, too, since they were penalized 15 yards on the kick-off and were forced to kick to dangerous USC return man Zachariah Branch, who wound up charging into LSU territory with his return before the kicker stopped him.

USC went on to add a field goal and retake the lead. Remember kids: You can score a touchdown and still hurt your team if you're not smart.
