Star Forward Sends Passionate Caitlin Clark Message to Dallas Wings Fans

Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark is so popular that even her road games are starting to resemble the kind of home environments she’s used to at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Clark’s celebrity status was evident in the Fever’s 100-81 road win over the Chicago Sky on Friday, and again Sunday’s 100-93 road win over the Dallas Wings. And that just didn’t sit right with Wings star forward Atou Sabally, who sent a message to the team’s fans after the game.

“Obviously, it’s annoying because there were way too many Caitlin fans in our arena, but kudos because it’s amazing to see so many people in women’s basketball jerseys, it’s amazing to see the excitement and the joy that comes out of that,” Sabally said.

“Although, I feel like our Dallas fans could have done better. I had mixed feelings seeing all the Caitlin jerseys — in our home — but it’s an amazing sign for women’s basketball and it’s great for how far we’ve come.”

The number of Clark jerseys in the crowd were noticeable both in person and on the television broadcast.

Clark’s performance against Dallas was nothing short of dominant. She totaled 28 points, 12 assists and four rebounds while shooting 45.5% from 3-point range and 52.6% from the field.

Clark’s popularity has been evident this season as the Fever lead the WNBA in attendance numbers with more than 500,000 fans. Attendance for non-Fever WNBA games is also up 20% this season, further proving the “Caitlin Clark Effect” is real.
