Lincoln Riley's Perfect Seven-Word Response To Coaching Blunder vs. LSU

USC suffered a brutal beat to end the first half against LSU, but head coach Lincoln Riley brought a sense of humor to the situation in his halftime interview.

The Tigers and Trojans played two quarters of perfectly even football, ending the first quarter in a 0-0 deadlock before both offenses woke up to add 10 points apiece in the second quarter. However, USC certainly should have added more.

Quarterback Miller Moss and running back Woody Marks led a promising drive deep into LSU territory as the second quarter clock winded down. Oddly, though, Riley opted to basically sit on the ball and called a run play to set up a field goal from the Tigers' 12-yard line.

Lincoln Riley not chasing the touchdown? That's odd for him. But regardless, at least there's a chip-shot field goal, right? Well, even that went poorly as USC missed to come up empty-handed on a crucial middle-eight possession.

At his halftime interview with Holly Rowe, the ESPN reporter asked if Riley regrets how he handled the end of the half.

"Any regret about not taking a shot right there instead of a field goal attempt?" she asked.

His response drew laughs all around the broadcast.

"When you miss it, there always is," he joked before heading into the locker room.

That missed opportunity could loom very large later in the game, especially if the game remains tight. However, it's good to see Riley not panicking following a frustrating end to the second quarter.

Brian Kelly is a Finebaum favorite but maybe he'll let Lincoln Riley rest for a week or two but he'll jump on Dabo now he'll ride Clemson to make a change.

And Brian Kelly has to kick himself for going for 6 instead of 3 on the first LSU drive.
