The Los Angeles Chargers have added running back Hassan Haskins to their roster, reuniting him with head coach Jim Harbaugh from their time at Michigan. Haskins was claimed off waivers after being released by the Tennessee Titans.

"Harbaughs' love the Haskins'. He's like a son to me," Harbaugh said via the team's transcript .

This move reflects the Chargers' commitment to strengthening their running game, which struggled last season. Haskins joins a backfield that includes Gus Edwards, J.K. Dobbins, and Kimani Vidal.

Drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Haskins brings valuable experience. During his college career at Michigan, he accumulated 2,324 rushing yards and scored 30 touchdowns. He also earned a Second-Team All-American selection in his final season.

Haskins is known for his ability to gain extra yards and is a solid pass protector. He also made a mark on special teams with the Titans, playing 234 snaps and handling kickoff returns during his rookie year.

"You block the play for a yard, he's liable to get three most often, most of the time," Harbaugh said . "Blocking for two, he'll get four. He's a really good pass protector and a game changer, tone setter on special teams as well.

"He's always been one of those guys that just ever since I met him," Harbaugh continued. "Jumped 6-foot-7 in the high jump when he was in high school. He had 11 sacks as an edge player and had a lot of runs. He was a wildcat quarterback in high school and he kind of mushed it up in there."

With Haskins on board, the Chargers are looking to enhance their offensive strategy and improve their performance in the upcoming season.
