Lakers Could 'Revisit' Trade for Ex-Lottery Pick on LeBron James' List: Report

Aside from hiring new coach JJ Redick , the Los Angeles Lakers didn't make splashy moves this offseason.

Team officials are banking on retaining the Lakers' core from the last two seasons, led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, to reclaim the NBA title they last won in 2020.

It was widely known, however, that the Lakers tried to get additional firepower, including big names like DeMar DeRozan and Klay Thompson, who landed with the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks, respectively.

The Lakers also failed to land Jonas Valanciunas, who went to the Washington Wizards on a bargain three-year deal worth over $30 million.

However, according to The Athletic's Jovan Buha , the Lakers could still trade for Valanciunas, pointing out that the veteran big man was on LeBron's list in the offseason.

“There was some interest, obviously,” Buha said in his video. "He was on LeBron’s list, so I think the Lakers will probably revisit that.

"But I don’t think there’s as much interest as a guy like a Wendell Carter or some of these other guys that have popped up."

The 32-year-old Valanciunas, the fifth overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, played all 82 games for the New Orleans Pelicans last season, averaging 12.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.

He could've added depth to the Lakers' center unit, which includes Davis, Christian Wood and Jaxson Hayes.

Valanciunas is expected to play a big role for the Wizards, who only won 15 games last season.
