San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has been released from the hospital after being shot during an attempted robbery. The incident occurred on Saturday in the Union Square area of San Francisco.

Pearsall suffered a bullet wound to his chest but is recovering well. The team said in a statement, "He and his family, along with the entire San Francisco 49ers organization, would like to thank the San Francisco Police Department, emergency medical services, doctors and staff at San Francisco General Hospital."

Erin Pearsall, his mother, provided an update on Facebook, noting that the bullet entered and exited without hitting any vital organs, emphasizing how fortunate he is to be alive.

"Update on my baby boy," she started . "First and (foremost) I want to thank GOD for protecting my baby boy. He is extremely lucky, GOD shielded him. He was shot in the chest and it exited out his back. Thanks be to GOD it missed his vital organs.

"He is in good spirits right now," she added . "Life is so precious my friends. Please love (each other). My son was spared today by the grace of GOD. Please pray for my baby."

Pearsall was in stable condition after being transported to the hospital alongside a 17-year-old suspect involved in the shooting.

The 23-year-old player was walking alone when the robbery attempt took place. Multiple shots were fired during the incident, according to police reports.

Pearsall was drafted by the 49ers in the first round earlier this year and has been dealing with some injuries during training camp.
