Josh Jacobs Gets Brutally Honest About Final Season With Raiders

Ever since leaving the Las Vegas Raiders for the Green Bay Packers in free agency this spring, Josh Jacobs has had a lot of things to say about his former team.

The latest quotes from the Raiders' former running back came a few days ago, in an interview he did with The Athletic's Dan Pompei .

"I wasn’t really mentally there, not happy to be there," said Jacobs, talking about his 2023 season, which would end up being his final one in Las Vegas. 'Obviously, I loved my teammates so I was going to give everything I had for them, but I felt like I had been slapped in my face.”

Jacobs and the Raiders never saw eye-to-eye when it came to a long-term contract extension. Although Jacobs led the NFL in rushing in 2022 with a whopping 1,653 yards, he still didn't get the long-term extension he desired from the franchise during the following offseason.

After the 2023 season, in which injuries caused Jacobs to miss four games, he became a free agent. When the Packers offered him $48 million over four years, he hoped the Raiders would match. If they did, Jacobs would still be a Raider.

“I really didn’t want to up and move... But I could tell that s— was over with,” Jacobs said.

"Trust was missing then," Jacobs said of his last year with the Raiders.

Many Raiders' fans hoped he would return to the team this offseason, yet some felt ready to move on from him, and some of the drama that surrounded his tenure. Jacobs wasn't afraid of a cryptic tweet or two , and that irked the fan base at times.

With Zamir White playing well during the last four weeks of the season when Jacobs was injured, Las Vegas felt comfortable moving on from him.

Barring a return later in his career, Jacobs seems to have wrapped up his time with the Raiders. When it's all said and done, he'll be one of the better running backs to ever don the silver and black.

In his five seasons as a Raider, Jacobs totalled 5,545 rushing yards on 4.2 yards per attempt, while scoring 46 times.
