The Jaguars are ready to kickoff their regular season this Sunday in Miami. Last season, the Jags jumped out to an 8-3 record and appeared to be headed toward an AFC South title. But then injuries caught up with them and things went actually south in a hurry with Jacksonville dropping 5 of the last 6 games and missing the playoffs.

On Monday, Doug Pederson was asked about the importance of getting off to a good start of the season and he also had some fun with a question he’s been asked frequently regarding the yet to be revealed play calling duties.

On the importance of having a fast start

Doug: It's always good to get off to a good start. You can't go 2-0 unless you go 1-0, right? Again, I think we face playoff teams in our first four, five, six, seven weeks, whatever it is. These are playoff teams and AFC-type teams too that we have to compete against. It’s a long season we understand that and, but at the same time you want to play good football and it does help the momentum too if you can get off to a good start.

On if he’s decided who will be the play caller for this season

Doug: I still haven't made my mind up yet.

On having the play caller decision made by Wednesday prior to the game vs. Miami

Doug: Yeah, maybe... You may never know. You can just stop with the question right now, you'll never know.
