"College GameDay" analyst Kirk Herbstreit's dog, Ben, stole the show during Sunday night's battle between the No. 23 USC Trojans and the No. 13 LSU Tigers.
While Herbstreit and Rece Davis were discussing the match in their pregame show, Ben found himself in the middle of the two analysts on live TV, and fans loved it.
But Ben has been a big hit prior to his guest appearance in USC's win, traveling around the country with Herbstreit during the 2023 football season.
But back in March, the 10-year-old golden retriever was diagnosed with leukemia and on Monday, Herbstreit provided a new health update on his beloved pet in response to a fan asking how old Ben was.
"10," Herbstreit wrote on X. "Was diagnosed with leukemia in March and had major surgery in late July to remove 2 masses on his spleen and intestine. Both cancerous. Been a challenging offseason for Ben but he has had an incredible recovery in the last few weeks. Just so thankful he’s feeling better and able to travel with me."
Herbstreit then went on to mention what has helped Ben in his recovery and how he faired during the Week 1 trip.
"Honestly I think being out and seeing people on the road really helps his spirit and gives him something to look forward to," Herbstreit continued. "Will keep a very close eye on him and react accordingly. He had a GREAT week 1. Taking it one week at a time."
During the 2023 football season, Ben made his way around the country with Herbstreit to different stadiums. He even got to meet the Georiga Bulldogs mascot, Uga XI, during last year's SEC Championship. Ben also made a field appearance during the national championship between the Michigan Wolverines and the Washington Huskies.
Herbstreit and Ben introduced a new show called "Walks with Ben" to begin the season. The new series features Herbstreit, Ben and a special guest each week throughout the year. Week 1's edition featured former Texas A&M star Johnny Manziel. The three discussed Johnny Football's favorite college memories as they strolled through the field at Kyle Stadium.
