‘Y’all Quiet Now’: Shannon Sharpe Furiously Rips Into Caitlin Clark Haters

    By Michael Gallagher,

    2024-09-03

Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark may be credited for the WNBA’s explosion in popularity, but she’s also caused some serious division among several media pundits.

Sports analysts generally either love or hate Clark with no in between, and as her star continues to rise, it’s seems like the negative voices have been drowning out everyone else lately.

But after Clark’s latest performance — in which she totaled 28 points, 12 assists and four rebounds in a 100-93 win over the Dallas Wings — Shannon Sharpe couldn’t stay silent any longer. Sharpe called out all of Clark’s naysayers on a recent episode of his “Night Cap” podcast, unashamedly putting a whole slew of journalists on blast.

“There was a lot of women on ESPN that had a lot to say early about this — they’ve gone quiet now,” Sharpe said . “Y’all quiet now. I ain’t going to call your name, but you know who you are. Y’all had a lot to say early, and if you think I’m talking to you, I am.

“Make no mistake about it, I’m talking to you; you know who you are. One of y’all were a former coach. I can get more specific; some of you played the game. I want y’all to [own what you said earlier] when you were talking; don’t get mad now.”

While Sharpe didn’t name any name specifically, one has to figure there are a handful of people he was referring to including Sheryl Swoopes, Monica McNutt, Adraya Carter and Tim Legler.

All four either host shows on or have done guest spots on ESPN and taken an anti-Clark stance at one point or another over the last few months.

Swoopes has been Clarks biggest critic as of late, and she was even removed from Sunday’s Fever-Wings broadcast after she received a ton of backlash on social media for her apparent resentment toward Clark.

People have turned this into a circus. It's ridiculous. Coulda just had a girl making waves and promoting the league, but no. She is talented and skilled, but NOT unique. She's not a Great Hope, and she isn't an enemy.
