Are Bills Still The 'Team To Beat' In AFC East?

The Buffalo Bills will be one team to watch rather closely in 2024. With Josh Allen's weapons looking considerably different, many wonder how far No. 17 can take them.

However, with a player of Allen's caliber, coupled with Sean McDermott's defense, which always has a knack for being good, Buffalo is still a team that can make a deep post-season run.

While some are skeptical of that due to the lack of star power in Allen's receiver room, as Patrick Mahomes showed last season, it can work if your quarterback is good enough to elevate those around them.

And CBS Sports thinks that despite all the roster changes, the AFC East still runs through Buffalo.

"The Bills are the one of the championship contenders in the AFC, and are always a good bet to win 10+ games a year," CBS Sports writes . "They still have one of the game's best quarterbacks in Josh Allen, who has 173 passing and rushing touchdowns over the last four seasons (most in four season span in NFL history). The supporting cast is different with no Stefon Diggs at wide receiver, but the Bills have two promising pass catchers in tight end Dalton Kincaid and wide receiver Keon Coleman. The defense is still good despite the loss of pass rusher Leonard Floyd and linebacker Tyrel Dodson. The Bills are the team to beat in the AFC East, and earned that right."

In a division that could easily have three playoff teams, Buffalo will have its work cut out to win double-digit games again, but there have been positive vibes for the franchise over the last couple of weeks.

If Allen can elevate his receiver room that consists of Mack Hollins, Khalil Shakir , Curtis Samuel, Keon Coleman, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling and make each just a bit better than they are, who knows what the group could accomplish under new coordinator Joe Brady.

But for some, that is the biggest question mark hanging over Buffalo and a reason to think that its recent division dominance will end at the hands of either the New York Jets or the Miami Dolphins.

However, you are always a dangerous proposition when you have No. 17 in your ranks.
