The Kansas City Chiefs retake the football field in just three days when they host the Baltimore Ravens to kick off the 2024 NFL season. While the excitement level is extremely high among fans, it might be even higher among the teams involved.

In a recent press conference, the Chiefs' defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo spoke about the defense's excitement about returning to the football field on Thursday.

"It's been a long training camp and we're anxious to hit somebody else," said Spagnuolo. "We really haven't had the starting crew out there very much, so we've got a lot to figure out on the go, which is what the first game is all about. They haven't shown us much, we haven't shown them much, and it's kind of the in-game adjustments that are really important in this game."

Spagnuolo made it clear that, while the team is looking forward to the matchup, both sides will likely have to take time to figure themselves out with it being the first game of the season.

This is Spagnuolo's sixth season as the defensive coordinator for Kansas City, where he has won three Super Bowls. He previously won a Super Bowl as the defensive coordinator for the New York Giants in 2007, so he has plenty of experience commanding a championship-caliber defense.
