USA gymnast Simone Biles has had a very memorable Summer, especially after her incredible display at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 27-year-old out of Spring, Texas, bounced back in a big way from the 2020 Tokyo Games, where she had to withdraw due to the twisties, an occurrence where gymnasts lose their sense of balance and direction while performing stunts.

In France, Biles secured three gold medals in the team, all-around and vault finals and a silver in the floor exercise. During her vaults, Biles pulled out her specialty move, the Yurchenko double pike, also known as the "Biles II."

This stunt involves a roundoff, back handspring onto the vault, followed by two twists during a laid-out backflip. It is one of the hardest skills in all of gymnastics.

However, on Monday, Biles appears to have retired the skill altogether with a post on Instagram that featured herself holding a funeral for the move.

"rest in peace yurchenko double pike," Biles captioned the post with a heart hands emoji.

The post is nearing 200,000 likes and is rapidly growing, with many complimentary comments about the skill.

Even USA Gymnastics left its thoughts on the post with two separate responses.

"gone, but literally never forgotten," USA Gymnastics replied.

In the second comment, USA Gymnastics used a headstone emoji and a bouquet of flowers emoji, symbolizing a tribute to the "Biles II."

Biles first debuted the Yurchenko double pike at the 2021 U.S. Classic. After completing a variation of the skill, it was officially renamed in her honor.

Overall, Biles has accumulated 11 Olympic medals between 2016 Rio, 2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris, with seven of them being gold. She has also won an astounding 23 gold medals at the Gymnastics World Championships.
