Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee made some waves on social media on Monday when she emptied the camera roll and posted a few videos on her Instagram story showing a few gymnastics skills she trained but never used in competition.

One of those videos showed Lee landing a Cheng — a vault element with a high degree of difficulty named after Chinese gymnast Cheng Fei that involves a roundoff entry onto the springboard with a half-twist onto the vaulting horse followed by a front salto (somersault) with a 540-degree turn.

But as happy as fans were to get some extra post-Olympics Lee content, there was a small contingency of people who expressed some worry that Lee’s video dump was a hint that her gymnastics career could be coming to an end after the 21-year-old moved from her hometown in Saint Paul, Minnesota to New York City.

“Is she done done with gymnastics? I’m so bummed so she isn’t joining the tour,” one user asked .

“I’m terrified she is posting these skills rn, does this mean she’s…..done?” another questioned .

One X user speculated it could signal the end of Lee’s gymnastics career with her move to New York City.

“Does everyone think she is done? She needs to come back full [time],” another user stated .

“Depending if she’s retiring or not. I would assume her kidney issues would play a huge part in her decision,” one commentor stated in response to another user’s comment about seeing her perform these moves in person.

Lee has six Olympic medals to her name, including winning gold in the all-around final at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

She added three more to her collections at the 2024 Paris Olympics — gold in the team final, bronze in the all-around final and bronze in the uneven bars — but she has not announced whether she’ll compete in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
