While the iconic Warriors-Cavaliers Finals matchups are a past chapter, Ty Lue isn't willing to take any risk against Stephen Curry on the floor. The former coach of the Cleveland team has been in enough battles against the 3-point king to form this belief.

Now on the Clippers, Coach Lue ensures his crew is well-prepared every time before facing the baby-faced assassin. During a press interaction in 2022, the former NBA player turned coach revealed insights on the iconic Cavaliers-Warriors matchup in the Finals.

Recalling the 2017 and 2018 Finals, T-Lue revealed that stopping Curry was the Cavaliers' prime focus despite dealing with Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson, too.

"We blitzed him with Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson on the floor"- Ty Lue on Cavs' gameplan against Warriors

From 2015-18, the Warriors and Cavaliers headlined the NBA Finals, with the former having a 3-1 edge. Lue, who came on board in 2016 as Cavs coach, played an extensive role that starred LeBron James from the East and Stephen Curry from the West.

Though Lue created history alongside James and Irving in the 2016 Finals, Kevin Durant joining the Dubs made it a one-sided affair. Meeting the juggernaut back-to-back in the 2017 and 2018 Finals, Lue once stated how they had to keep 24x7 surveillance on Curry regardless.

It's surprising, considering KD was crowned the Finals MVP back-to-back, making all the clutch plays and being his most efficient. By the looks of it, Curry getting into his groove was a bigger worry for T-Lue and his crew.

The Clippers coach is still his most vigilant when facing Stephen Curry

Though their battles may not be as intense as in the past, T-Lue cannot afford to risk a regular-season game against Curry.

Despite having some of the best defensive names, such as Kawhi Leonard, Ivica Zubac, and Nicolas Batum, by his side, the Clippers coach knows all Curry needs is a split-second window to make a shot, no matter what range.
