49ers Reveal Christian McCaffrey Status vs. Jets

The New York Jets open their season next Monday against the San Francisco 49ers. Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has struggled in his career against the 49ers and has an 0-4 lifetime record against them including 0-2 in the NFC Championship game.

On Tuesday, NFL insider Adam Schefter made a post to his official X account about San Francisco getting their best offensive weapon back on the field.

“More good 49ers news,” Schefter wrote. “Pro-Bowl RB Christian McCaffrey, who missed most of training camp with a strained calf, is expected to return to practice today, per source.”

We are sure the 49ers fans will be excited to get him back, but a calf injury can linger for weeks. Will he be 100 percent for the season opener? Who knows?

One thing is for sure, a running back coming back from injury playing against this Jets defense could be an advantage for New York’s unit. This is a hard-hitting, smash mouth defense so the 49ers may have to limit how much McCaffrey carries the ball into the Jets’ strength.

Regardless if the 49ers star running back is on the field or not, the Jets will be prepared to shut down this San Francisco offense.

This game is a great way to kick off the season on Monday Night Football.

Kickoff is scheduled to be 8:20 p.m. ET on Monday night.
