Following Week 1 of college football, ESPN's Greg McElroy believes fans may be watching one of the best ever to do it at this level.

With extra eligibility thanks to COVID, plus the options the transfer portal provides, players have never had an easier time reaching the spotlight. You have stars of all kinds in college football — a seventh-year QB like Cam Rising, a 17-year-old phenom like Ryan Williams, or a redshirt sophomore and future pro like Carson Beck.

However, among the list of stars in college football this season, McElroy singled out one Colorado player who he believes could etch his name in history as one of the greats if he keeps playing like he did in Week 1. That man is Travis Hunter.

"If he can continue to do what he's doing on both sides of the ball in some big games against quality competition, it's going to be hard not to acknowledge his presence as not just one of the best in this year's version of college football, but one of the best of all time," McElroy said on his show, "Always College Football."

Hunter looked the part against North Dakota State Thursday, hauling in seven catches for 132 yards and three touchdowns — the last of which was a truly unbelievable grab in the corner of the end zone to secure the Buffalo victory.

College football has rarely ever seen a player even capable of producing on both sides of the football — much less, somebody willing to play nearly every single snap and provide the absolute highest level of play on both ends.

Hunter is a special, special star for fans to enjoy in 2024. When it's all said and done, perhaps he is counted among the greatest talents to ever step foot on a college football field.
