With the 2024 regular season now upon us, it's time for most around the football world to get their last round of predictions in before the games officially begin.

With that in mind, the Las Vegas Review Journal's Ed Graney recently published an article in which he predicted the Las Vegas Raiders ' record for the 2024 season. Graney's prediction is on par with most of the media's expectations for the squad, as he foresees an 8-9 season.

The 8 wins Graney predicts make sense, but there are a couple of interesting selections here. Graney predicts wins against the Carolina Panthers , Pittsburgh Steelers , Atlanta Falcons , New Orleans Saints , as well as two wins against both the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos .

Most of these wouldn't take much convincing. Sweeping two inferior divisional opponents is very possible, and the Panthers and Saints don't seem to be the biggest threats in 2024 either.

The Falcons and Steelers are interesting as well. These teams aren't super bowl contenders this year, but the Raiders will likely be considered underdogs in each of these affairs.

As for the losses, Graney predicts the Raiders to lose to the Baltimore Ravens , Cleveland Browns , Los Angeles Rams , Cincinnati Bengals , Miami Dolphins , Tampa Bay Buccaneers , Jacksonville Jaguars and the Kansas City Chiefs twice.

These are pretty predictable as well. All of these teams will be favorites against the Raiders this year, and with the Raiders already taking two underdog wins in Graney's prediction, it's fair to mark these up as losses.

It's hard to argue with Graney's prediction here. The Raiders have been the epitome of average over the past half-decade, and with this season looking awfully similar, an 8-9 record is more than fair.

In many ways, an 8-9 season is the worst possible scenario for the Raiders. Obviously, contending for the playoffs would be better, but an 8-9 record would prevent them from landing a high draft pick, and potentially picking up an elite prospect next April.
