No. 3 Texas will play No. 9 Michigan on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff in Week 2, which will also be featured on ESPN’s College Gameday for the 26th time in school history and the sixth time in the Steve Sarkisian era.

While Texas is 1-4 in the five times it has been featured on College Gameday in the Sarkisian era, the Longhorns did prevail in its most recent appearance, a 34-24 statement victory over then No. 3 Alabama in Week 2 of last season.

Following its lopsided 52-0 victory over Colorado St. at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium to open the season, Texas will look to start 2-0 with a top-10 win for the second straight year. However, unlike last year’s tilt with the Crimson Tide, Texas is favored this time.

Michigan, the defending national champions, looked unconvincing in a 30-10 victory over Fresno State at home, in which the Wolverines outgained the unranked Bulldogs by only 25 yards and led by as few as six points in the fourth quarter.

Following the discrepancy between the two teams' Week 1 performances and Michigan losing 13 players to the 2024 NFL Draft, it will be a surprise if former Florida State head coach and College Gameday panelist Lee Corso doesn’t pick the Longhorns to win with his headgear pick.

This nonconference battle of blue blood programs will be only the second time the schools have ever played. Many Texas fans will remember the first encounter, a 38-37 victory on a 37-yard field goal as time expired at the 2005 Rose Bowl, a year before the Longhorns would capture a national championship at the same site against USC.

Texas and Michigan will play on Saturday morning at Michigan Stadium, the largest in the country. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
