Where Texas Lands In Updated AP Top 25 Poll Following Week 1

Texas kicked off the 2024 college football season in dominant fashion.

The Longhorns hosted Colorado State in Week 1 and Steve Sarkisian's squad put together an impressive performance in all three phases. The 52-0 win saw Texas climb one spot to No. 3 in the updated AP Top 25 Poll this week.

While the Longhorns handled business as expected, there were a few Week 1 surprises across the country. Oregon, Florida State, Clemson and LSU did not look as strong as many expected. The Seminoles dropped out of the ranking completely after suffering back-to-back losses to start the season, while Clemson fell to the No. 25 spot after a blowout loss to Georgia.

The AP Top 25 Poll following Week 1 has Georgia (No. 1), Ohio State (No. 2), Texas (No. 3), Alabama (No. 4), and Notre Dame (No. 5) as the top teams in the country. It slightly differs from the Coaches Poll , where Ole Miss holds the No. 5 spot rather than Notre Dame.

If Texas can secure a win in Ann Arbor against No. 10 Michigan in Week 2, the Longhorns would have a solid argument to jump Ohio State as the No. 2 team in the nation.
