It’s rarely too early to consider your recruitment process as a prospect in the modern age. This certainly holds true for Brady Edmunds, the No. 2 ranked quarterback in the class of 2027 by 247sports . Edmunds has already narrowed down his top schools to Texas, Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan.

Despite his age, the Huntington Beach, California, native already boasts a 6-foot-5, 200-pound frame and reminds 247sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins of Pro-Bowl quarterback Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers.

“Edmunds is on the short list when talking about top quarterbacks in the national ’27 class,” Biggins wrote in a scouting report published last month . “He’s a big, strong pocket passer who has impressed at multiple camps this Spring. Just about every school he camped with including heavyweight programs like Texas, Ohio St, Michigan and Penn State offered him after seeing him work out. As a freshman, he threw for 2,691 yards and 24 touchdowns and can get the ball down the field with touch and accuracy. He also started on the schools basketball team and shows some under-rated athleticism on the hardwood.”

You can see some of Edmunds’ highlights from his standout freshman year below.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian’s reputation for developing quarterbacks, along with respected members of his staff such as quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee, has helped the Longhorns secure some of the nation's most highly-touted quarterback recruits over his tenure on the Forty Acres.

Many fans will know that starting quarterback Quinn Ewers and backup quarterback Arch Manning were the highest-rated signal-callers in their respective classes, but Sarkisian and Milwee also have planned years into the future at the position.

2025 four-star quarterback KJ Lacey and 2026 four-star quarterback Dia Bell committed to Texas in June 2023 and June 2024, respectively. Whether this potential competition for playing time will influence Edmunds’ decision remains to be seen.

Huntington Beach High School, where Edmunds currently plays, is 1-1 on the year, but the sophomore has starred with 569 yards passing for seven touchdowns and two interceptions, plus 170 yards on the ground for an additional score. Edmunds and the Oilers will face Capistrano Valley (2-0) at home on Friday night at 7 p.m. PT.
