San Antonio Spurs Only Have One Player Ranked in Top 50

The San Antonio Spurs only had one player named in the top 50, according to a recent player ranking . Of course, it was Victor Wembanyama, who came in 25th, one spot behind Tyrese Maxey and one spot ahead of Pascal Siakam. While Wembanyama is expected to soar up the boards, for now, it's hard to rank him, as last season was full of experimentation.

Interstingly, players like Desmond Bane, Jalen Green, and Kristaps Porzingis were all given the nod ahead of Devin Vassell, who was not even included in the eight honorable mentions.

While it's true that Wembanyama is likely the only star on the Spurs, and is certainly the only superstar, it seems a bit odd for Vassell to be slotted in behind Jalen Green, who averaged fewer points on worse efficiency than Vassell last season.

Also, historically, Chris Paul would find himself in the top 15 on lists like these, but he is several years removed from his prime and did not start for the Golden State Warriors last season, so his stock has taken quite a hit.

While Vassell is the notable snub from the list, and the Spurs faithful will likely insist Wembanyama is closer to the top 15 than the top 25, keeping Jeremy Sochan out of the ranking is likely the right call, for now. While Sochan is a fan-favorite and lockdown defender, his lack of impact on the offensive side keeps him out of these sorts of rankings, as he typically does not leave a mark on the box score.

Rookies were kept off the list, although by season's end, Stephon Castle could have a case to be at least in the top 75 NBA players, especially if his offensive game gets more complete.
