49ers Nearing New Deal With $138 Million Superstar Lineman, 11-Time Pro Bowler

A new contract between the San Francisco 49ers and Trent Williams appears imminent, as the All-Pro left tackle reported to the team on Tuesday, September 9.

Williams' deal is not yet finalized, though the agreement is all but done, which ends his holdout and solidifies the left side of an offensive line that has been porous during stretches without Williams in recent years.

"Eleven-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Trent Williams and the 49ers are trying to finalize a deal, per league sources," Adam Schefter of ESPN reported via X . "Williams returned to the Bay Area last night, according to his brother @fredo_silver. A deal appears close."

Williams, now 36 years old, is entering his 14th NFL season and the fourth year of a six-year contract worth $138 million total.

Yet, despite his advanced age, Williams has earned first-team All-Pro honors in each of the past three seasons. He is a crucial cog in the 49ers offense and the most important player on the team when it comes to keeping quarterback Brock Purdy upright.

It is unclear whether the new agreement includes more years and/or more money for Williams. However, at the very least, the deal should guarantee the superstar tackle more of the money left on his existing contract and could provide a bonus restructure that puts considerably more coin in his pocket right now.
