The highly anticipated debut of Nebraska's true freshman quarterback, Dylan Raiola, went about as well as anyone could've hoped.

The 19-year-old completed 19 of his 27 passes for 238 yards and 2 touchdowns on Saturday en route to a 40-7 win over UTEP. That performance earned him the Big Ten's Freshman of the Week award.

Huskers head coach Matt Rhule said Monday that he thought Raiola "played really well," with only a couple small issues to clean up.

Offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield addressed the media on Tuesday and gave the following assessment of Raiola's debut: "He was like a freakin' surgeon."

Satterfield said he was hoping the bright lights and emotion wouldn't negatively impact the play they've seen from Raiola in practice, as can happen to some players.

“If anything he, like, became more focused, scary as that is,” the offensive play-caller said, adding that Raiola's matruity is "way beyond his years."

Sure, there are things for Raiola to improve on and clean up, but his debut overall was a really good start.

"The No. 1 thing was just the operation, the rhythm of the offense and taking care of the football, and he did all three of those," Satterfield said of Raiola.

He'll get a new test on Saturday night when Colorado comes to Lincoln for a rivalry game in primetime, and hopefully the freshman will be able to slice up the Buffaloes like he did UTEP.
