The Florida State Seminoles have started the season 0-2 after losing to the Boston College Eagles on Sept. 2. After the updated AP Top 25 rankings were released, Florida State became the third preseason top 10 team to drop out of the rankings since 1989. In the same year, the Seminoles started the year with two consecutive losses.

Sports journalist Rece Davis discussed Florida State's string of losses in a recent edition of the " College GameDay Podcast ." The Seminoles lost to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on a game-winning field goal in Week Zero in Dublin, Ireland. They then lost 28-13 to Boston College.

Davis did not believe the losses had anything to do with Florida State's players or the lack of physicality that allowed offenses to run the ball against the team. He believed that the losses resulted from how last season ended and the dark cloud that has hung over the program.

Florida State went into the postseason with an undefeated record following the win over the Louisville Cardinals in the ACC Championship. The Seminoles' starting quarterback, Jordan Travis, suffered a season-ending injury toward the end of the regular season.

Florida State did not make the playoff and played the Georgia Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl to end the season. Things did not go well, and the Seminoles lost 63-3.

"...This 0-2 start for Florida State, 28-13 loss to Boston College last night, suggests to me it's not personnel, it's not physical," Davis said. "It's the malaise that's still hanging over the program after the disappointing end last year."

Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei struggled against Boston College. He completed 21 of his 42 passing attempts for 272 yards. Uiagalelei finished the game with one touchdown and one interception.

Florida State can pick up its first win in Week 3 against the Memphis Tigers on Sept. 14. Kickoff is at noon ET on ESPN.
