Chiefs' Chris Jones Praises Handling of Teammate's Contract

After past struggles with contract negotiations, it seems as though the Kansas City Chiefs and All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones are finally on the same page with how the team is handling player contracts.

After placing running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire on the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list last week due to mental health issues, reports came out that the Chiefs would still continue to pay Edwards-Helaire throughout his time on the list despite not being obligated to.

Soon after those reports came out, Jones took to his social media to share his thoughts on the move, and provided a simple response.

    "Classy move..."

This response from Jones comes almost a year after he held out from attending Chiefs practices as he pursued a new contract. Jones even sat out of the team's first regular-season game before agreeing to a new one-year deal the following week.

The two sides certainly won't have that issue in 2024, as they agreed to a five-year, $158.75 million contract in March, which made him the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history based on annual value.

In eight seasons on the Chiefs, Jones has won three Super Bowls and is a five-time All-Pro, as well as a five-time Pro Bowler.

Jones will soon take the field for Week 1 when the Chiefs raise the banner for their latest Super Bowl victory, and face off against the Baltimore Ravens in an AFC Championship rematch on Thursday at 7:20 P.M. CT.
