Caitlin Clark Makes WNBA History Against Los Angeles Sparks

On Wednesday night, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever went up against Rickea Jackson and the Los Angeles Sparks for the third and final time of the 2024 WNBA season.

Throughout the season, Clark has broken numerous records, including the league’s first triple-double by a rookie and the most assists in a single game (19 against the Dallas Wings). Against the Sparks, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star did it once again.

With 6:06 left in the third quarter, Clark hit her second three-pointer of the game and her 100th of the season. In doing so, she became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 100 threes, doing it in just 34 games.

The previous record was set by Atlanta Dream star Rhyne Howard, who took 40 games to reach 100 three-pointers made in 2022.

Clark has also become the first player in league history to record 100 or more three-pointers and 200 or more assists in a single season, according to StatMamba.

Clark has led the Fever to their first WNBA playoff berth since 2016. This happened when the Chicago Sky and Atlanta Dream both lost on Tuesday night. Indiana also has its first winning record in over five years after winning six of its first seven games following the Olympic break.

For her performances in August, Clark also earned two Rookie of the Week awards, the Rookie of the Month honors and her first Player of the Month, adding to her already prolific resume.

Clark and the Fever have caught fire at the exact right time. Hopefully, they can keep it going in the postseason.
