Chicago Sky Coach Delivers Fiery Message to Team Amid Brutal Losing Skid

The Chicago Sky's struggles took another turn for the worse on Tuesday, September 3, after they suffered a demoralizing blowout loss at the hands of the defending champions Las Vegas Aces, 90-71.

The Sky simply had no answer for MVP frontrunner A'ja Wilson who went off for a monster 30-point, 14-rebound double-double. This resulted in Chicago losing by 19 points for the second time in three games following their 100-81 defeat against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Friday, August 30.

Sky Coach Teresa Weatherspoon is well aware of the fact that her team is in a deep hole right now after losing their seventh straight game . She also knows that she will need to light a fire under her players' bellies in order to help them get out of this slump.

The first-year shot-caller did just that after Tuesday's loss.

"When you're honest with it, losing is not a cute thing," Weatherspoon said in her post-game press conference . "It doesn't feel good. It's not a feel-good thing. So you take that feeling that you have that doesn't feel good to lose. And when you step into practice, that feeling that you have is, 'I don't want to feel like this. I don't want this feeling.'

"It's a harder fight that has to be in us to go get a win. It's a harder fight. Everybody's fighting. Not just us. Everybody's fighting in this game. You just have to fight harder and be smarter in the fight. That's where we are right now."

Weatherspoon has delivered a powerful message here, but at the end of the day, it's up to her players to answer her call. It also goes without saying, though, that she will have to make the necessary coaching adjustments to put her team in a better position to succeed.

The Sky's next test comes in the form of a home matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, September 6. The Sparks hold the worst record in the league right now (7-26), and if there was any game Chicago could use to bounce back from this brutal stretch, it would probably have to be this one.
